Happy New Year! Okay, so I do realise that this is already the 6th day of the year but as it was my first day back at work, it seems to me like the first day of “normality” (whatever that is!).
I don’t really “do” resolutions but it is a good time to reflect on running goals for the year ahead and plan out some races to aim for. I normally would only do one half and one full marathon a year, however this year I feel I want to push myself a bit harder and improve my level of fitness and mental toughness.
The idea at the moment would be to complete 4 marathons – I am cautious however about setting time goals as I want to enjoy (?) them and not feel in some way I’ve failed if I miss a target.
It’s easy sitting planning races isn’t it and devising nice schedules…… I’ve just had a look at the calendar and assuming my first marathon is around the middle of April that leaves me about 13-14 weeks of training …eekkk…better get those trainers on and get moving. Check out Twitter for my running updates and my food diary as well to see if I can get some of that weight moving as well!
